Instead of thinking of what you want (job, pay…), think about what you can offer (skills, reliability, availability, experience).

Instead of asking what they have for you (job, pay rate), ask them what they need (weekend staff, fast workers, customer service)

When applying for jobs, ask more questions about what they need help with.

What type of staff do they need? Do they struggle to find staff for weekend shifts? Do they need an expert barista or an all rounder?

When you know the needs of an employer, it’s easier to talk about what value you can bring, how you can help them out and ultimately get the job.
